The Walker Group Picks

# 7 RARE RED BIRDS 6/1

# 9 CORNETTO 3/1

# 1 ALYSWEEP ONE 20/1

RARE RED BIRDS is my choice. CORNETTO - Looks competitive versus this field and will most likely be one of the leaders. He must be given a chance given the very strong speed figures. ALYSWEEP ONE - A solid 71 avg class fig may give this colt a distinct class edge against this group.

The Walker Group Picks

# 1 KRAZY KOFFEE 2/1

# 2 TEXAS WILDCATTER 8/5

# 5 GANBEI 12/1

I like KRAZY KOFFEE here. Overall the speed figs of this racer look quite good in this contest. Overall, has one of the best earnings per start in dirt route contests in this lot. He has very strong class ratings, averaging 104, and has to be given consideration here. TEXAS WILDCATTER - I like the rider on this colt - strong chance to win the contest. Will probably be one of the early speedsters of the group going into the midpoint of the affair. GANBEI - A nice ROI of +125 with this jock and trainer combo. Well above average win rate at this distance/surface.

Mountaineer - Race #1 - Post: 7:00pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $8200 Class Rating: 66

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

Choice Plays:

#4 COMMUNICATING (ML=2/1)
#9 FEASIBLE (ML=15/1)

COMMUNICATING - The Sep 20th race at Arlington Park was at a class level of (73). Dropping down the class scale drastically, so she should be in a good spot. You have to like that recent race speed figure, 55, which is the highest latest race speed rating of this field. FEASIBLE - Utilizing this jockey/conditioner combination is a good move. Houghton rode this horse for the initial time in the last race and comes right back in today's contest. Look for this filly to run much better in this field. Last affair at Mountaineer finishing ninth on a track listed as good is no indication of her true talent.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 HONEST BELLA (ML=7/5), #1 ROYAL SECRET (ML=5/1),

HONEST BELLA - Didn't show much last time. Probably won't make an impact in today's race. ROYAL SECRET - This filly hasn't had any recent good results in short distance races. Not easy to bet on her in this contest. This filly recorded a speed rating in her last contest which probably isn't good enough in today's race.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:

Bet on #4 COMMUNICATING to win if we can get at least 9/5 odds

Choice Plays:

#6 SUNDAY ELEGANCE (ML=8/1)

SUNDAY ELEGANCE - Jockey jumped on this filly's back for the first time on October 27th. Should know the animal even better in today's contest. The fact that this filly is entered right back into a race so quickly means she's fit and ready. The jock/trainer duo of Kenney and Lupo has a strong return on investment together. 19-31-58 are last 3 Equibase speed figures. Improving each time out is something she should do again right here. If this filly gets out of the gate cleanly, she'll be tough to catch. Another way to evaluate class is earnings per race. This racer has the topmost in the bunch. I think she'll be close at the finish.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 POINT PERFECT (ML=5/2), #9 GRIZZLY GIRL (ML=3/1), #10 HIGHLAND LASS (ML=7/2),

POINT PERFECT - That was simply not a very good display in the last contest. On a downward cycle. Speed ratings keep dropping. GRIZZLY GIRL - Nice race on October 14th at Penn National, but the fact that there are no workouts since has to make one a little worried. HIGHLAND LASS - You always figure that this horse has a shot to be victorious, but she falls short frequently.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - SUNDAY ELEGANCE - One can surmise, given she finished out of the top three at Penn National last out, that this horse did not like the off track. I expect a significant improvement with better footing today.
