RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 6 MOJITO MAN 3/1

# 7 ATHEIST 5/2

# 1 STORMY BALLAD 7/2

MOJITO MAN is my choice. He has been running admirably and the Equibase Speed Figures are among the strongest in this field. Will probably be one of the leaders of the group going into the midpoint of the contest. Has a solid shot in this race if you like back class. ATHEIST - Must be given a chance - I like the figures from the last contest. Mitchell has this gelding running well and is a quite good selection based on the formidable Speed Figures put up in sprint races lately. STORMY BALLAD - Gamblers ought to take a good look at this one as this gelding has one of the best win percentages at this distance in this group. The drastic drop in class can only help this horse this time around.

RACE #7 - BELMONT PARK - 4:12 PM EASTERN POST

8½ FURLONGS TURF THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD $16,000.00 CLAIMING $21,000.00 PURSE

#6 OPTIMER
#9 WESTERN DEED
#7 GREG GOT EVEN
#10 PERSONAL GOOD

#6 OPTIMER, an Argentinian-bred entry, takes a BIG class drop (-20) this afternoon, and has turned in "POWER RUNS" in each of his last five starts, hitting the board in four of those "adventures." #9 WESTERN DEED, a 5-1 shot, has produced a pair of "POWER RUNS" in his last three outings, and I also note that his trainer, Dom Schettino is adding blinkers for the first time today ... as noted on numerous occasions in the past, this subtle equipment change often produces noticeable speed boosts in their first applications.

Camarero - Race #5 - Post: 4:45pm - Claiming - 7.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $5000 Class Rating: 65

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

Choice Plays:

#2 GREEDY GROOVY F (ML=2/1)

GREEDY GROOVY F - You'll be generating money right and left by turning your betting money onto this jock/handler combination. When a sprinter is back in a race less than 10 days after her last outing, it generally means she's fit. She has the highest earnings per race. Take a good look at this thoroughbred.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 TONITO'S DREAM (ML=5/2), #6 ANOTHER TASMANIAN (ML=5/2), #1A VOLCANICA (ML=5/2),

TONITO'S DREAM - Didn't land in the money on May 27th at Camarero. Followed it up with another less than stellar effort. ANOTHER TASMANIAN - If you keep betting these kind of 'bridesmaid' types, you're going to be let down frequently. In the last race this entrant finished fifth. Doesn't show much potential for her chances this time out. VOLCANICA - This thoroughbred likes to be in the money, but doesn't usually get the job done. Don't put in the top spot. The speed fig in the last race doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's contest. Mark this horse as a likely underpriced contender.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - GREEDY GROOVY F - This mare has the top speed figure last race with a very good 38. She is the top wager here.

Evangeline - Race #6 - Post: 8:25pm - Maiden Claiming - 8.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $16000 Class Rating: 55

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

Choice Plays:

#11 BLESSED EVA (ML=4/1)

BLESSED EVA - Taking a big drop in Equibase class figure points from her June 13th race at Evangeline. Based on that key piece of info, I will give this horse the edge. As long as Landry keeps this steed off the pace, I have to believe this one could be a winner. This filly should improve after adding Lasix in the last race and getting it again today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 LEES MARY (ML=3/1), #2 COUNTTHEMONEYHONEY (ML=6/1), #9 KALLALUJA (ML=6/1),

LEES MARY - This entrant likes to hit the board, but doesn't usually finish first. Keep out of the top spot. COUNTTHEMONEYHONEY - 6/1 is not enough of a price to take on most any racer that has run poorly in back to back efforts. Mediocre speed figure in the last race at Evangeline at 6 furlongs. Don't think this racer will improve too much today.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - BLESSED EVA - This filly's superior last speed number of 53, against these ponies, makes her the overwhelming choice.

Go with #11 BLESSED EVA on top if we're getting at least 1/1 odds

8.0 FURLONGS TURF THREE YEAR OLD FILLIES STAKES $100,000.00 PURSE

#4 STRAWBERRY TART
#10 STARLARKS
#11 ELOQUENTLY
#3 JEHAN

#4 STRAWBERRY TART, a 4-1 shot, has posted a trio of "Circle Trip Results" in his last five outings, with two of those wins also qualifying as "POWER RUNS." Jockey Martin Garcia was in her irons for that win, 27 days ago here at Hollywood Park, which produced more than a 1,000% return on investment in the process ... Garcia is back today for his 2nd ride, gunning for back-to-back "Circle Trips." #10 STARLARKS, an Irish-bred entry, is 5-1 in the morning line, and has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in each of her last three starts, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in her last outing. Jockey Alex Solis and Trainer Pat Gallagher send he to the post tonight ... they've hit the board with 51% of more than 150 entries saddled as a team to date.

The Walker Group Picks

# 11 LA CHILLY WIND 20/1

# 2 TAKING LOUIE 3/1

# 8 M C IS MOVING ON 10/1

I've got to go with LA CHILLY WIND and is a respectable value wager given the line. Looks solid against this group and ought to be one of the front-runners. Opposing a much less demanding group than last time out. TAKING LOUIE - A solid 63 avg class figure may give this gelding a distinct class edge versus this field.
