Churchill Downs - Race #6 - Post: 3:04pm - Claiming - 9.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $13000 Class Rating: 96
Rating:
Choice Plays:
#9 KITE FALCON (ML=6/1)
#3 SHIP'S PIANO (ML=6/1)
KITE FALCON - The jock and trainer combination have a profitable ROI when they unite. I can't ignore the fact that this gelding is working extremely well. SHIP'S PIANO - Ran a less than stellar race at Hoosier Park last time around the track. Racing on a normal track puts this gelding at the top of my contenders list.
Vulnerable Contenders: #8 SPARK OF HUMOR (ML=3/1), #6 LACE MANZOTTI (ML=4/1), #2 PRINCE DAVID (ML=6/1),
SPARK OF HUMOR - This closer looks to have little chance without a speed duel up front. Most unsatisfactory speed fig last time around the track at Keeneland at 1 1/8 miles. Don't think this steed will improve too much in today's event. LACE MANZOTTI - Difficult to keep chasing this kind of 'bridesmaid' horse. PRINCE DAVID - Finished second in his most recent effort with a run-of-the-mill speed fig. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this field.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: | Go with #9 KITE FALCON on top if we're getting at least 5/2 odds |

Calder - Race #1 - Post: 12:25pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $9900 Class Rating: 71
Rating:
Choice Plays:
#6 FIORE DICAMPO (ML=15/1)
#11 CANCERBERO (ML=12/1)
#9 TOTALLY COOL (ML=8/1)
FIORE DICAMPO - This gelding's last speed rating is high enough to prove victorious here, I'll play him right back this time out. I always like to see a campaigner getting Lasix for the 1st time. Azpurua adds it on this one today. CANCERBERO - This horse should be motoring in the stretch. TOTALLY COOL - Take this advice. When you've got a first timer, take a look at dam stats as much as sire stats. This one's dam has been fantastic winning at a 50 percent rate. I like the fact that this 1st timer's recent works have been over this track. A great handicapping angle is the addition of Lasix for the 1st time. Braddy gives it to this one for this clash.
Vulnerable Contenders: #12 GIMMEAWINKPOPPY (ML=5/2), #2 DOC GREEN (ML=5/1), #5 G. WILLIE (ML=6/1),
GIMMEAWINKPOPPY - This runner ran a quite unimpressive speed rating last out. He shouldn't run much better and will likely get beat in today's event running that rating. DOC GREEN - Difficult to bet on this entrant today. Make him show you something in a sprint affair before you wager on him in a race of 6 furlongs. Showed very little in the last race. Really no reason to expect improvement today. This gelding registered a fig in his last event which likely isn't good enough in today's race. G. WILLIE - Hasn't finished in the money in any short distance events lately. Unlikely to see him doing it this time around either. Finished fourth in his most recent performance with a common speed figure. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this group.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: | #6 FIORE DICAMPO is going to be the play if we are getting 9/5 or better |
EXACTA WAGERS: | Box [6,11] |
TRIFECTA WAGERS: | None |

# 1 ICE ON THE SIDE 5/2 |
|
|
# 3 GODDESS ANGEL 3/1 |
|
I've got to go with INTITRICKU. ICE ON THE SIDE - Looks decent to be close to the lead at the first call. Blinkers on may be the difference maker here. GODDESS ANGEL - Has to be given a chance against this group of horses displaying competitive numbers lately and an average speed rating of 51 under similar conditions. With a competitive 53 speed figure last time out, will unquestionably be a factor in this outing.

HALL PASS looks formidable to best this field. Shows solid Equibase Speed Figures on average overall when compared with the rest of this group. With McAleney uptop him, this gelding should be able to break out early in this competition. Had one of the most favorable Equibase Speed Figs of this group of horses in this race in his last contest. WOULD IF I COULD - Will probably go to the lead and could never look back.
