II. How TrackMaster Plus Works

The TrackMaster Plus software allows you to access a full day's racing card from any of your favorite tracks throughout North America, including items such as past performance information, horse, driver and trainer information, customized handicapping reports and numerous other features to make your experience playing the races more enjoyable and more profitable. Each TrackMaster Plus data file contains information for all of the races at a track on any given race day and provides the same reliable information as found in the track programs such as morning line odds, program numbers and post positions, plus a wide array of enhanced and improved data.

TrackMaster Plus is Microsoft Windows compatible and requires an internet connection to download the race card data files. Users get updates via the TrackMaster Plus page on the TrackMaster web site using an account ID and password. Once the race card data file has been downloaded, the TrackMaster Plus software imports and displays the current day's races and prepares them for exploring and handicapping the entire card.

III. Special Features Of TrackMaster Plus

What does TrackMaster Plus provide that you can't find anywhere else? Here are just a few of the features:

PERFORMANCE INFORMATION AND RATINGS
TrackMaster Plus eases your handicapping by providing several key comparisons of the horses in a race:

Class Ratings - reflect the quality of the races in which the horse has raced.
Speed Ratings - reflect how this horse's speed ranks against the other horses in the race.
Pace Style/Figures - reflect how the stages of the race are likely to be, and how fast each horse performs in them.
Power Ratings - an overall indicator of various handicapping factors combined together.
Custom Power Ratings - reflect a power rating based on your own weightings of the various handicapping factors.

CLASS RATINGS

TrackMaster assigns a class rating (CR) to today's races and all races in which today's starters have raced. A top class race might have a class rating of 100 while a lower-level claiming race might have a CR of 70. By comparing the CR of today's race and the CRs for each horse's recent races you can tell if a horse is moving up or down in class, facing an easier or more difficult field that it has recently. The ratings are deigned to be equal across all tracks. So a horse that has been successful in races with a CR of 90 at one track should be competitive in a race with a CR of 90 when shipping to a different track.

SPEED RATINGS

TrackMaster assigns a speed rating (SR) to each horse's race, where there is enough information to accurately do so. These ratings tell you how fast a horse has been performing. It is based on the horse's actual time and other factors, such as the composition and condition of the track and the post position the horse started from. A horse who races in a top class race might earn a SR of 100 for a good performance while a low-level claimer might earn a 70 for an average performance. Like the class rating, the speed rating is weighted for different tracks and conditions and designed to be equal across all of them. A horse that races consistently in the 80s at one track should be competitive with horses that race in the 80s at another track.

PACE STYLE & FIGURES

The pace calculations are presented in two sub-categories. The first, called style gives you a quick look at how a race may be contested. The numbers identify which horses prefer to race in front early in a race, which ones typically make middle moves and which ones come from behind. This is useful in anticipating early speed duels which can significantly affect the pace of a race.

The pace calculations analyze a horse's positions at the four stages of a race: 1st Quarter, 2nd Quarter, 3rd Quarter, and Finish. By averaging the positions a horse has been, a number is produced indicating where that horse usually is at that point in the race. If a horse shows a first quarter figure of 1.5, this horse typically races in front (between first and second) early in a race. Another horse might show a first quarter figure of 6.8, meaning it tends to be placed towards the back early in a race. By comparing the pace figures, you get an idea of which horses consistently race in front and which come from behind.

The second sub-category is the pace figures. This section displays how fast a horse has raced at the four different points of call: 1st Quarter, 2nd Quarter, 3rd Quarter, and Finish. In addition it also shows a composite pace figure. These figures are all computed using the same principles used in creating the TrackMaster speed ratings only for the shorter fractional distances.

POWER RATINGS

The TrackMaster Plus power rating is an overall indicator of the horse's potential profitability, combining the components of speed, class, pace and various other handicapping factors. This power rating is also weighted to reflect a track profile. For example, early pace carries more importance at a smaller track than at a large one with a long stretch. TrackMaster Plus also provides value tables that show you, historically, which combinations of power rating margins and odds have had the highest payoffs.

CUSTOM POWER RATING

The custom power rating feature lets handicappers create their own power ratings by assigning weights to a variety of factors such as speed, class, pace, driver, trainer, etc. TrackMaster Plus lets you design up to five different sets of weights.

RECORDS AND RETURN ON INVESTMENT (ROI) INFORMATION

Most all of the TrackMaster Plus categories show statistics in a very unique and valuable way:
Starts - Win % - Place % - Show % - In The Money % - Return on Investment (positive or negative)

Most other services may only show the number of starts, firsts, seconds and thirds. What if you're trying to compare two trainers with records such as (#1: 216 - 32 - 18 - 14, #2: 86 - 16 - 12 - 13). Which one has a better win percentage? The first trainer has a win percentage of 14%, while the second clearly better at 18%. However, the real question is which one of these trainers has been more profitable to wager on, in other words, the better Return on Investment? This is where TrackMaster Plus puts you ahead of the game. In this example, the first trainer may have a +8 ROI, while the second trainer may have a -14 ROI. Again, these tremendously valuable pieces of data can put you miles ahead of other handicappers using limited data.

IV. Easy Organization

SELECTIVE DISPLAY

TrackMaster Plus selectively displays information to allow you to compare horses head-to-head in selected categories. Also once you have decided that a particular horse in the race is no longer of interest, you can "throw him out" by hiding that horse's information to allow you to focus on the remaining horses of interest. Additionally, if you decide that a piece information on a horse is of particular interest, you may mark that information to highlight it. TrackMaster Plus keeps track of what you have marked and allows you to display a summary of all marked information in the handy notebook category.

GRAPHS

Easy comparisons between horses can be made by graphing the TrackMaster Plus information. These graphs can be created either for viewing or printing. By double-clicking on the graph you can change the display from vertical to horizontal.

MATCHUPS

Match ups is our unique addition to past performances. It's the quickest way to compare the competitors' recent head-to-head meetings to see who has been performing better.

NOTEBOOK

The notebook is the summary area of TrackMaster Plus. When you access your notebook, a display summarizes all the information you have marked as of special interest. This allows a recap of information in one area to help you make your decisions. You can use TrackMaster Plus to prepare ahead of time and, just before the race, review your marks in the notebook.

COMMENTS

Similar to the notebook, the comments section lets you enter in personal notes you may have about each horse. This electronic scratch pad lets you remember important thoughts you may have about a horse or race.

RUNNING LINE (PP) NOTEBOOK

Past performance lines contain vital pieces of information such as where horses have previously raced, conditions of races, fractional times, who the first three finishers were and much more. TrackMaster Plus lets you mark pieces of information which are then copied to the running line notebook category. By marking information you can easily compare a horse's past performances.

SNAPSHOT-POWER

In addition to the TrackMaster Plus power rating, the snapshot-power display presents a summary of the key pieces of race information such as: the average best speed rating each horse has raced, or a horse's record displayed as wins over starts. When you look for horses that stand out (either good or bad) in these categories, you're on your way to a good selection.

V. Other Features And Functions

ODDS HANDICAPPER

The odds handicapper allows you to compute what pari-mutuel payoffs should be. For example, in a daily double when you pair a horse with 9-5 odds with a horse with 2-1 odds, the payoff odds should be 9.5: 1, or a $2.00 bet should pay $21. By comparing the should pay with the actual pay received you can see if your wager had positive value. Betting for value will help you improve your profits over time.

MULTIPLE TRACK INFORMATION

TrackMaster Plus lets you store more than one complete race card. The archive feature lets you download and store as many tracks as you want which you may switch back and forth to. This will allow you access to more than one track if you are taking advantage of a sports book, off-track betting or simulcast location offering a variety of tracks.

RECENT RACES

The traditional past performance lines for each horse's last twelve races are always available.

CLAIMS

If and when a horse was claimed, for how much, and from which trainer are displayed. TrackMaster Plus notes if a horse was claimed in its last start and what the new horse's record is after being claimed and what the new trainer's record is with horses he or she has recently claimed.

LAYOFFS

A horse's records after it has had a specified number of days between races are shown.

PEDIGREE

The horse's sire, dam, dam sire, age and sex. The performance of the sire's and dam's foals is shown in various categories.

DRIVERS AND TRAINERS

The recent race records for the driver when he/she has driven for the trainer, when the driver has driven the horse, and when the trainer has started the horse are displayed. The trainer's recent record following layoffs, after claims, with first and second time starters and with two-year-olds are also displayed. Driver and trainer history over the last 14, 30 and 365 days as well as their record with post time favorites, horses at odds of less than 5-1 or higher than 5-1, different classes of horses and many other angles are included.

MEDICATION AND EQUIPMENT

What medication and equipment are being used in today's race and what medication and equipment were used in the horse's last five races are displayed.
